SUMMARY:Political Organizing in the Secular Community with Marisa Richmond
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Marisa Richmond is a member of the Metro Nashville Historical Commission. She previously served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Commission on Advancing Educational Excellence\, Equity\, and Economic Opportunities for Black Americans\, as a Chair of the Metro Human Relations Commission\, and as a member of the ad hoc Nashville Mayor’s Council on the Status of Women and the Davidson County General Sessions Court Judicial Equity Collective. She also served many years as the President and Lobbyist for the Tennessee Transgender Political Coalition.\nIn 2024\, she served as a Tennessee Delegate to the Democratic National Convention for the fourth time\, having been a delegate in 2008\, 2012\, and 2020. She is a Co-Chair of the Transgender Advisory Committee of the Democratic National Committee\, and was a Member of the Out for Harris National Working Group. She previously served as the first\, and only\, Transgender Person of Color on the Democratic National Committee\, and is a Past President of the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women.\nShe is a prolific author and speaker on transgender rights\, and has served on many boards at the Local\, State\, and National levels. She has been recognized for her work with many awards.\nShe recently retired from teaching history and women’s and gender studies at Middle Tennessee State University\, and she has three degrees\, all in U.S. History. Her A.B. is from Harvard University\, her M.A. from the University of California\, Berkeley\, and her Ph.D. from George Washington University.

DESCRIPTION:You asked for it! You got it. Yes\, the return of Disc Golf to the Middle Tennessee Humanists. This course is short so we will use a putter only (putter is the easiest disc to control). Don’t worry about scoring. Keep score or not! We don’t care. The real score is fun with fine folks! Keep that! Bring water! Dress for the weather (hope it’s nice). If it’s a high chance of rain\, we may reschedule\, so keep an eye out. I have a good number of putters we can use. If you have one (or even other discs and want to use them) bring ’em on! Note. SUMMARY:Secular Rising US presents "Bell Witch Skeptic Tour"
DESCRIPTION:Leave the driving to us! Snag a ticket and take a luxurious ride with fellow skeptics to experience the lore of the Bell Witch. We are taking 35 secular-minded\, science-loving\, and/or skeptical folks out to Adams\, TN\, for a production of Spirit: The Authentic Story of The Bell Witch\, written by David Alford. It is the official story of the Tennessee legend of the Bell Witch and the haunting of the Bell family. We will meet at Opry Mills Mall (outside Off Broadway shoe store) at 4:30 PM and hop on a charter bus to Adams\, TN\, departing at 5:00 PM. Once there (at approximately 6:00 PM)\, we will have the opportunity to explore the Bell Witch Fall Festival until the play begins at 7:30 PM (check out what is at the festival here: https://bellwitchfallfestival.com/). We will board the bus back to Nashville no later than 9:50 PM. The bus leaves the festival at 10:00 PM\, and will be back at Opry Mills by approximately 11:00 PM.
